The Colossalist is a fine, fine album. Vukovar’s best to date without a doubt. Any imperfections are perfect, any moments off-key are perfectly in tune, and any mistakes are intended. The band continue to release essential listening.

Vukovar know their way around a pop song, they just serve them in strips wrapped in dirt. One part industrial, one part post-punk synthplay, and equal parts turmoil and fear.

Although the album is full of great moments, I still keep their previous Cremator as my favorite, as for me it was one of the best records of 2019. But The Colossalist is a very interesting and complex work that will delight all of us who still don’t like easy things.

This album grows more compelling with repeated listenings. The innate sadness, its wistfulness, gets less disembodying with each piece and each play until the entirety washes over the you. As different as it is intoxicating, not mainstream, not for everyone, experimental, a must listen to essential album.

Vukovar, oh Vukovar, bless you for existing, bless you for subverting the very concept of music, bless you for not being afraid to scare, to twist the listener’s mind, for taking us on magickal journeys. And bless you for the sheer delight of what you make, craft, compose and play.

So, ‘The Colossalist’ LP is a black crude diamond on Vukovar‘s will. An amazing and outstanding work by all means. Here we go, listen close, listen loud!!!

Dazzling bright synth beams sweep relentlessly with urgent icy drama, sharpened by hissing off-kilter steady rhythms woven with a hypnotically obsessive tight bassline, over haunting emotional male vocals, haloed in high pitched ethereal female exhalations, as they cynically reveal disbelief in a life beyond the veil, amid the churning, reverb fused auras of ominous disconnection. — WL//WH
The Colossalist I’m glad to confirm is another quality expansive work of art from one of the country’s most criminally underrated bands.

Vukovar -The Double Cross The band that should be kings are back with a world weary trawl of Scott Walker in leather trousers and shades like goth synth pop .all down at heel glamour , a song worthy of a Wim Wenders wide screen shot a song to evoke many emotions all of them steeped in tear stained melancholia
